aLphAbeT Posters

This is a set of three 8” by 24” posters that feature 36 unique variations of the letter A. Each poster has a different composition that takes inspiration from the various styles of the letter A and various elements that make up the letter.

Sketches & Letterforms
I started by researching and looking at different contemporary and traditional forms of the letter A. After that, I filled up a few pages with sketches of the letter which I later traced and refined using Adobe Illustrator.

I focused on experimenting with different styles ranging from more organic, handwritten forms to modern geometric shapes. I also aimed to create variation throughout the letters by playing with different cross-bar heights, stroke weights, and counter shapes.

B&W First Draft

For the three posters, I sketched out different compositions and decided to go with three that are roughly inspired by the overall shape of a capital A. One poster leads up to the right, one comes to a point in the center, and the last one follows a downward motion from right to left.
